The play-offs for the Saudi Roshn Professional League (SPL) kick off on Friday, with four clubs competing for the third promotion spot from the Yelo of First Division League (FDL) of Professional Clubs.
Al-Hazem, Al-Adalah, Al-Bukayriyah and Al-Tai clubs have booked the play-off spots. Al-Hazem, Al-Adalah and Al-Bukayriyah clubs qualified by securing third, fifth and sixth places respectively, while Al-Tai (the seventh-placed team) qualified for the play-offs instead of Al-Jabalain (the fourth-placed team) for not meeting the Roshn Professional League club license criteria.
According to the playoff system, Al-Hazem will meet Al-Tai, while Al-Adalah will meet Al-Bukayriyah in the playoff semi-finals at the stadiums of the two clubs mentioned first, on Friday evening. The final will be played at the stadium of the team with the best ranking between the two finalists.
• Al-Bukayriyah is a guest of Al-Adalah.
Al-Adalah will host Al-Bukayriyah in the first semi-final on Friday evening at Prince Abdullah bin Jalawi Sports City Stadium in Al-Ahsa.
The two teams finished their Yelo League campaign in fifth and sixth place, with the same number of points (58 points) each. However, Al-Adalah’s superiority in head-to-head matches gave it the advantage in the standings, allowing it to host the play-off semi-final match at its home stadium.
Al-Adalah defeated Al-Bukayriyah in the first round of the Yelo League, with two clean goals, the same result that decided the return match at Al-Bukayriyah Stadium for the 18th round.
• Al-Hazm and Al-Taie “The dream of a quick return”
Al-Hazem will host Al-Ta’ee at their home stadium in Al-Rass on Friday evening in the second playoff semi-final match. Al-Hazem has a chance to advance to the Premier League, especially since if they win, they will play the playoff final at their home stadium as the best-ranked club in the playoffs.
Al-Hazem won the first round of the Yelo League against Al-Tai, winning 2-1 away, before they tied in the second round at Al-Hazem Stadium, 1-1.
It is noteworthy that both teams are seeking a quick return to the Roshn Saudi League, having previously been among its clubs during the 2023-2024 season before finishing in the bottom two places.
