“Yelo 23”.. League Summit Captures Attention in Foundation Day Round
The twenty-third round of the Yelo League for First Division Professional Clubs kicks off on Monday, designated as the “Foundation Day” round in celebration of this precious national occasion, which marks a turning point in the history of the Kingdom.
The Foundation Day round in the Yelo League features heavyweight matches, topped by the league summit that brings together the leader NEOM with its pursuer Al-Hazm.
The Al-Hazm and NEOM summit will be the opening match of the round, as they meet on Monday afternoon in an anticipated match through which NEOM, the league leader, seeks to continue its victories and reach 50 points. NEOM currently has 47 points, with a 5-point lead over Al-Hazm, who sits in second place seeking to return to winning ways after losing in the last round against Al-Adalah, leaving them with 42 points.
The same day will witness 3 matches bringing together Al-Tai with Al-Bukayriyah, Al-Najma with Al-Faisaly, and Jeddah with Ohod.
Al-Tai enters the Al-Bukayriyah match looking to continue their victories and advance in the standings as they currently sit fifth with 37 points. This is the same goal for Al-Bukayriyah, who have won their last two rounds, raising their tally to 30 points.
Al-Najma meets their guest Al-Faisaly looking to continue their victories and strengthen their position in the golden square as they have 37 points, while Al-Faisaly is still looking for a win that has been absent for 7 rounds, dropping them to 15th place with 21 points.
Jeddah, eighth in the standings with 32 points, hosts Ohod, who are at the bottom of the standings with 12 points and searching for a win in their difficult mission to stay in the league.
The round continues on Tuesday with 3 matches as Abha meets Al-Batin, Al-Ain meets Al-Arabi, and Al-Jubail meets Al-Zulfi.
Abha hosts Al-Batin in a match where both teams are looking for an elusive win. Abha is in tenth place with 30 points, while Al-Batin is in 14th place with 24 points.
Al-Ain seeks to achieve an absent win as they strive to escape the relegation zone, currently in 17th place with 19 points, while Al-Arabi seeks to continue their victories and advance in the standings as they sit seventh with 34 points.
Al-Jubail hosts Al-Zulfi in a strong confrontation that both teams enter with the same points tally (24 points each) in the 13th and 12th positions respectively.
The round concludes on Wednesday with two matches bringing together Al-Jabalain with Al-Adalah, and Al-Jandal with Al-Safa.
Al-Adalah visits Al-Jabalain in a strong match that brings together the third and sixth in the standings. Al-Jabalain is sixth with 36 points, 4 points behind Al-Adalah, who sits in third place and is buoyed by their victory over second-place Al-Hazm in the last round.
Al-Jandal meets their guest Al-Safa with both looking for an elusive win. Al-Jandal is in 11th place with 29 points, while Al-Safa is in 16th place with 21 points.
